Is remote healthcare the expected health tech trend in 2022?
According to Bernard Marr in Forbes:
“It’s clear that the pandemic has accelerated the digitalization of the healthcare industry. According to the HIMSS’s Future of Healthcare Report, 80% of healthcare providers plan to increase investment in technology and digital solutions over the next five years.”
One of the trends Marr mentions is the increase of remote healthcare and telemedicine and we are not surprised. When the COVID19 pandemic started, remote healthcare consultations increased from 0,1% to 43,5%! The Deloitte Center for Health Solutions research (2020) showed that most patients were happy with the virtual visits and will continue to using them.
The pandemic obviously stimulated the increase the use of remote healthcare services, but for many around the globe, the healthcare system was overwhelmed treating COVID patients and struggled to provide care for those who suffered from other illnesses or health problems. After an acquired brain injury, patients are often dependent on loved ones to take them for check-ups and rehabilitation visits. Additionally, many people simply could not receive the ongoing treatment needed. Remote healthcare helped with this especially when hospitals were overwhelmed and many people live in remote locations that do not have specialized care centers nearby.
As Marr states in the article “There are plenty of good reasons to develop capabilities to examine, diagnose and treat patients remotely. This trend has the potential to save lives by dramatically expanding access to medical treatment.” Telehealth can improve access to healthcare around the globe where many patients don’t have access to the right treatment. At NeuroReality we understand that remote care is the way of the future. It is winning professional and public trust. We are excited to be part of this healthcare revolution!
